What is a District Leader?
A District Leader is an unpaid, volunteer-elected official who represents their political party within their Assembly District. Every formal political party in New York State is required to have at least one District Leader per Assembly District, and these positions are up for election every two years. This ensures that political parties remain democratic and accountable to the voters they serve.
What We Do – The Work of a District Leader
As your District Leader, I take on many roles to keep our community informed, engaged, and empowered. Here’s how I work for you:
✅ Keeping Elections Fair & Accessible – I recommend and assign poll workers and election inspectors to ensure our elections run smoothly and fairly.
✅ Your Go-To Voter Resource – From polling site locations to election results and candidate info, I make sure you have everything you need to make informed decisions.
✅ Fighting for Better Poll Site Access – No voter should struggle to cast their ballot. I advocate for well-equipped, accessible polling places so that every resident in our district can vote with ease.
✅ Shaping the Future of Our Local Democratic Party – As part of the borough’s Democratic Executive Committee, I help set the agenda and direction for our local party, making sure it reflects the needs of our community.
✅ Selecting Our City’s Judges – I play a key role in nominating Civil Court judges, ensuring our judicial system represents fairness, integrity, and the values of our community.
✅ Building a Stronger Grassroots Movement – Our County Committee members are the backbone of local Democratic organizing. I recruit and support them so we can keep our party connected to the people.
This work is about powering our community—giving everyday people a voice in decisions that shape our lives. And I’m here to make sure that voice is heard loud and clear.
